Midtherm Engineering Awarded project at Ricoh Arena

01/10/2019

Midtherm Engineering are proud to announce following extensive design works we have been awarded the contract to install a new mutli flue chimney at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

In 2018 we were asked to attend a site meeting with Eurosite Power to discuss the possible flue design at the complex which includes a 32,609-seater stadium, exhibition hall, a hotel and a casino. Planning permission had already been granted for a single flue rising to above roof level, however the project required installation of two separate flues, one serving an existing generator and one serving a new CHP unit.

To ensure the planning permission approval would not be compromised Midtherm proposed an oval shaped multi flue chimney, this would enable installation of two individual flues however create the illusion that a single flue system has been installed, this was enhanced by the completion of a photo realistic visualisation.

The project kick started with trained engineers completing ground investigation, civil and structural design works all prior to an order being placed for the supply and installation of the flue systems and multi flue chimney. The project is due to be completed by the end of 2019.
